The Green Roofing Specialists is committed to environmentally sensitive and energy
efficient roofing materials.  As members of the U.S. Green Building Council,
we are strong proponents of "green" building and supplies.

A green building is a building that has been constructed or renovated to
incorporate design techniques, technologies and materials that have less
dependency on fossil fuels and minimize the building's overall negative
enviromental impact.  Green buildings can include homes, offices, schools,
churches, hospitals, museums and other buildings.

One of the greatest benefits of a green building is its reduced use of electricity
and energy which can reduce dependency on fossil fuels.  Approximately one-third
of all energy consumed in the U.S. is for heating, cooling, lighting and for the
appliances in a building.  With the increased use of green building practices and
green materials, a significant reduction in the use of energy consumption will be
realized.

We offer several ways to lower your utility costs and reduce your heating and cooling bills.
Our radiant barrier coating was developed to keep the temperature of your home more comfortable throughout the year.   When applied to the underside of your attic roof decking, it creates a reflective barrier that helps keep heat from the sun out of your home in the summer and locks in warm air from your furnace in the winter months.  This innovative energy efficient product can lower your heating and cooling costs by as much 30%.

Our elastomeric roof coatings are Energy Star rated products that produce "cool"
roofs. The Energy Star program was created by the Environmental Protection
Agency to promote the manufacturing and marketing of energy efficient products.
Dark colored roof materials absorb heat which makes them deteriorate more
quickly. Reflective roof materials are designed to reflect 90% of the heat from the
sun keeping your building cooler in the summer and warmer in the winter. Studies
have shown a major reduction in heating and cooling costs after the application of
a reflective roof coating.

Furthermore, coatings offer additional savings with tax write-offs. Roof coatings are counted as a maintenance item and can be written off 100% in the same year. Conventional re-roofs are written off over a period 39 years under current IRS guidelines.

coatings, visit http://www.energystar.gov/ia/partners/manuf_res/bom2.pdf.
